Nritham Dance Academy established in the year 2005 by providing curriculum in the dance form of Bhartnatyam in a unique innovative way. Nritham Dance Academy is guided and led by its current Artistic Director Mrs. Sujatha Chenilath, an exponent of the dance forms of Bharatnatyam, Mohiniattam, Kathakali and other folk dances of India.
Nritham Dance Academy specialized in providing a curriculum in the dance form of Bharatanatyam which is the most ancient and classical art form of southern India. The Academy teaches the art form based on techniques, principles and quality of instruction of “Natyashastra” and “Abhinayadarpanam”. The Academy also provides learning platform for other Indian classical dance forms of Mohiniattam, Bollywood dance and Indian Classical Music.
Nritham Dance Academy is based in Bedford and also spread throughout East Anglia. The Academy works in association with some cultural organizations in parts of the region. The syllabus is prepared to align with the syllabus of the leading Dance Boards of United Kingdom, Oriental Dance Board of London, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and Elite Performing Arts Examination Board (EPAEB). In order to achieve excellence in learning the art, the Academy conducts the classes to cover the theory, thalam and provides a platform to familiarize classical music. The Academy also provides yoga sessions to its students as part of the dance learning sessions.
